Final Analysis

Here is your chance to "put it all together"

You've now covered a broad swath of information regarding nuclear weapons, nuclear power, and the impact they have on people's and animals' health. Additionally, you've read contemporary sources that offer vastly differing perspectives and lenses on the exact same information regarding the nuclear debate and how it still rages in the American west.

Now stop, think, and ruminate to yourself on these points:

  • In the end, in the Skull Valley controversy who do you think heard their voice actually heard?
  • Do you think that the open air nuclear explosions in the 1950s and 1960s were justified?
  • Why do you think the AEC put so many citizens' health and welfare in jeopardy?
  • If you were a judge deciding a lawsuit against the AEC what would you rule?
  • If you were a judge deciding to put the nuclear waste facility in place how would you rule?
  • During the 1950s and 1960s were the rights of residents of the American west violated, and in what way were they violated?
  • Finally, and perhaps most importantly, do you feel that the Native-Americans right to sovereignty was respected?
